CanonIQ Mapping Assistant

Privacy policy of the Chrome extension · last updated 30 October 2026 (sign-in with a personal access code)

CanonIQ Mapping Assistant is a Chrome extension for customers of CanonIQ's hotel room-mapping API. It shows how CanonIQ grouped a hotel's rooms on the booking page the user is on, and lets the user report a wrong grouping to CanonIQ. This page says what the extension reads, what it keeps, what it sends, and to whom.

What the extension reads on web pages

On travelogin.com, and on any other site only after the user chooses Watch this site and Chrome asks them to allow it, the extension looks at the page's own network calls and keeps only those that are room-mapping requests and answers (a JSON body with a hotel list and room types), and, of a search page's list of hotels, each hotel's name, code, location, address, star rating and the hotel's own contact phone and email (no prices). Of the page's other JSON answers it keeps only their address, size and field names (never their values), to show what the page loaded. What it keeps stays in that browser tab's memory, at most the last 10 calls, 3 searches and 12 other answers, and is gone when the tab is closed. It never reads form fields, passwords or other pages.

What the extension keeps in the browser

In Chrome's extension storage, on that computer only: a personal access code issued by CanonIQ (to sign in to CanonIQ's feedback service), the extension's preferences, the list of watched sites, reports waiting to be sent, and a short list of the last 50 reports sent.

What the extension sends, and to whom

Only to CanonIQ's feedback service at canoniqstudio.com, over HTTPS, signed in with a personal access code issued by CanonIQ:

WhenWhat
The user analyses a page whose room-mapping answer is not readable, or pastes a request (also automatically, while the side panel is open with Auto-detection on)The page's room-mapping request, so CanonIQ's room-mapping API can map it (with CanonIQ's own key, never the user's). The request includes the page's rates; the service passes it on without storing it, returns the answer without prices or booking keys, and keeps only the grouping of the rooms.
The user sends a report, or presses Report Issue or Looks CorrectThe report: its name, type and description, the hotel and room types it is about (for a search page, the hotels it names: their codes and names, with their addresses in the description), the address of the page without its query string, the page's title, and the screenshots the user added or captured.
The user opens Settings or the Feedback tabA sign-in check, and the request for the user's own reports and screenshots.

A search page's hotel list is checked inside the browser; nothing is sent for that unless the user reports an issue. Screenshots show whatever was on the user's screen, so check them before sending. Apart from screenshots, prices, booking keys and traveller details are never saved: not in the extension's storage (they stay only in the tab's memory, as above), and not by CanonIQ's feedback service.

Who can see a report

The customer that sent it and CanonIQ's mapping team. CanonIQ uses reports only to review and correct its room mapping. Nothing is sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or used to decide creditworthiness or lending. The extension has no analytics or tracking, and runs no code that is not part of the extension.

Keeping and deleting

Removing the extension deletes everything it keeps in the browser. Reports and screenshots are kept on CanonIQ's servers while they are needed to review and fix the mapping. To have them deleted, or for any question about this policy, contact us through canoniqstudio.com/#/contact.
